I very recently joined a website called FetLife. It's for people who are interested in the BDSM lifestyle to various degrees. It's a social networking site just like a lot of others.

I'm sure i made some misssteps as I navigate and get used to the site. I've noticed a significant pattern emerging from the members who have contacted me so far. Pretty much all those who identify themselves as dominants have been remarkably supportive and encouraging.

While they have been critical about a few things, they've tried to give me helpful suggestions and good advice, which I appreciate, and told them so. In other words, their gentle criticizms were designed to make my stay there easier and more pleasant. After all, how am I going to learn and blend in without the help of others since this kind of site is new to me.

As far as those members who have contacted me who identify trhemselves as submissive, the comments to me have been mostly nasty, rude and condescending. If the situation was reversed, i'd never act that way toward a new member or anyone else. I think you know me well enough to believe that. What gives?

I put on my amateur psychologist hat and came up with the following theory. Perhaps some of the submissives resent anyone with similar inclinations joining and "intruding" on their space. Maybe they see someone like me, meaning a fellow submissive as some kind of competition, and resent that person's presence. It's the best I can come up with without knowing anything about them except that they identify themselves as sexual submissives.

Anyway, i'm just sharing a random thought with my friends on SG. Hope everyone is doing well.
