I'm totally with you right there. not to turn this into a novel, but in '78 I became a Raiders fan in Junior High School. Have to admit, it was the color scheme that grabbed me. Where I really fell in love with 'em was in '81 when they were the first wild card super bowl champions. Jim Plunkett was my man ( I wear his jersey every game I go to.) It was more so a team love more than Al Davis.

that being said, I grew to respect Al Davis since it was his team and his blueprint to success. Sure, it hurt when he moved the team to Los Angeles and how he treated Marcus Allen & Art Shell, but like a child who distances themselves from their parents because disputes, there was still love because he was kin. For all the bad, the good memories overrides it. Al Davis might have been that senile old man, but he was my senile old man that gave me many years of joy following the Raiders.

it's sorta the same love Yankees fans have for George Stienbrenner. anyways,
