Random Notes (or, "I don't always write about chocolate, Mademoiselle Richardson!"):
-Last time I noticed, pre-ground coffee sold in the U.S. is only obligated to contain 70% coffee.
-For some reason French mineral water in the U.S. does not have any mineral content. Except Evian. Go figure.
-The typical pistachios sold in this country are from California. Like most widely available agriculture from CA, they are nice, robust, and kind of lacking in flavor. Comparing them to a real Mediterranean pistachio (i.e. Greece, Turkey), is like comparing a giant marshmallow to freshly whipped cream (or to a creme brulle, since said pistachios have a crunchy, brittle exterior and an almost creamy interior)
-When you're buying imported wine in a US store, a good tip is to try and twist the wrap around the tip of the bottle. Some foreign wine is shippd in absurdly hot conditions which will spoil the wine. If this is the case, the wrapping will get fused to the bottle.
