Random Food Thoughts:

I'm disappointed and mystified that the US imports of Vittel and Volvic waters have no mineral content, unlike their versions in France and the UK.

Two other brands of chocolate worth attention:

Zotter is an Austrian (I think) brand which is extremely gifted with mixing flavors in high-quality bars. Chocolate with Saffron, anyone? Take a look here for a gallery of their varieties.

And a Californian brand which is gaining in popularity (or at least distribution), Scharffen Berger. They process high-quality beans using only refurbished antique equipment. The result is a very good-tasting chocolate (without the fancy flavors). It lacks the depth or nuance of some of my favorite brands, but is a damn fine bar. I would also highly recommend their baking chocolate and cocoa powder.

My favorite wine store, Moore Brothers is opening a branch in New York! They have a terrific selection of both expensive and cheap wines (hand-picked from small producers), an incredibly knowledgable staff who love answering questions, and impeccable storage conditions (wine shops should not be well heated!). I can't wait to get my hands back on their Riesling, Provence Reds, and Cognacs, not to mention the ross and sake...

I had some gross rose flavored grappa and some really, really good chocolate kind.

I think your observations on RealDoll users are pretty accurate. Thanks. It's helped clarify my guesses as to why they creep me out as much as they do. wink
