They basically gave my coworker my position and laid me off. It was a seniority thing. I'm glad it was me instead of him, he's got two kids and a mortgage.
Still. Lame. WHY DID YOU GET LAID OFF WREN. Well, Internets, up until today I worked for a major window manufacturer and because new home construction is down we aren't making as much money as we should be. A bunch of us got laid off or demoted or whatever, so it's not just me.

EDIT: To answer anticipated questions NO I did not see this coming YES I am getting some severance pay NO I'm not sure what I am going to do.
