Looking up library schools + bsl laws. So far it looks like most of Canada is out, the UK is out, most of Europe is out. Neaw Zealand or the Netherlands are really unlikely. Belgium, Switzerland, South Africa, and Israel are in. But South Africa has AIDS and Israel is in a war. Plus, it looks like all the library schools in Israel are religious, and I don't know if they'd admit me since I'm not Jewish. They have a very sensible pet immigration policy, however. I'm also looking at some places in the United States, too. Ideally I'd like to find a program abroad, in English, which some European universtities, especially the Dutch ones, do, but outside of the Netherlands, I'm not having too much luck. The one I'm looking at in Belgium is all Dutch, so I'd probably have to live over there for a year so I could become fluent in Dutch before I went to school. I'm also going to email UW and ask at work so I can get a list of the good library school programs all over the world, and what I would do about international ones since I don't know if they're ALA accredited or not, and you have to go to an ALA accredited one if you want to get a job in the U.S. So lots and lots of looking. I really wanted to go to the UK. Maybe I can at least go there on vacation sometime. Fuck you, Dangerous Dog Act, and fuck you, lazy politicians.
