It's been a bit of a hectic week for me. Ten days ago I wrote about preparing to move to the other side of the island for a new job. As it turns out, that job offer fell through, and then the job I had disappeared, so then I was stuck with nothing. In my angst, I decided the best way to deal with the situation would be to take my savings and run.
With that in mind, I'm heading out on the road to travel again. In two days I head over to Vancouver and from there fly to Southeast Asia, where I'll bum around for two months.
Yup. Back to that area. You'd think I'd go someplace new, as this will be my fourth big trip in four years to that region. But despite having been around the world, having visited more than 50 countries on six continents, I find myself going back there over and over. That area – specifically Thailand, Laos and Cambodia – is the best place to be.
Southeast Asia is hot, cheap, colourful, tasty and safe. Really it's got all I want, so why not go back?
