Approaching a crossroads in my life

I'm now eight weeks away from coming home and ending this crazy adventure, and while that's four times as long as what most people consider an annual vacation, to me it's one-third of this experience.

When I get home, between leftover funds and my pending tax return, I'll still have enough money to keep from working for another three months, if I live *very* low budget. So I've decided I'm going to pursue one of these two options:

#1. Photography. Let's face it, I love this style of pinup artwork and I want to push it as far as I can. For that I need to go where the people are, so I'm thinking a tour of four Canadian cities (Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver). Between them, there are more than 40 fantastic Suicide Girls and Hopefuls I'd love to work with and I know I could produce tons of fantastic art. I'd spend three weeks in each city; I'd get between them by bus; I'd stay with friends to cut down on costs.

#2. Writing. About three months ago, I actually found enough quiet time and isolation to sit down and write the first draft of my first novel (fantasy genre). Since then the excitement of travel has been too much of a pull, and I haven't been able to get back at it. So my thought is, when I get home, to go somewhere very quiet and very isolated (I know of such a place in the Yukon) and hunker down for three months and rewrite that book until it's good and publishable.

---

Now, I know, you're all SG fans and you're all going to tell me to pursue #1, but is that the best course? Let's face it, I have eleven sets live on this site and only one has made it to Set of the Day. Should I really keep trying or should I give up? Right now it looks like the only other sets that have the potential to do this are the ones with @stormyent, @cheshi and @daniirae

Personally, I'm thinking, if by the time I get home I've gotten Set of the Day three times (I currently have one, @felynx) then I'll try #1, and if not, then go after #2.

What do you think, honestly, which dream should I follow? Or should I just give them both up and get a job?

On the light side of it you could write about beautiful women! Sorry, seriously do what your heart says here and what are your passionate about. Write a list of pros and cons list of both professions. You are excellent photographer and I would assume it is a indicator of your writing too, talents there!

@witchking I recommend both, please keep up with your photography, you will get more Set of the Day in the future, like all art, it takes time. Writing is hard to break into as well, harder probably as you already have a head start on photography, but don't let that stop you. Travelling opens many doors, stories will start to come to you as time passes. Everyone needs something to take their mind off something else. Not that my opinion matters, but I would like to see where photography brings you in the future, i am starting. As a poet who reads a lot, I am also interested in your novel and other writings to come.
