Ordinarily when I go to get my daily fix of noodle soup, there are four condiments on the table: fresh chilies, dried chilies, sugar and fish sauce.
At this place I found this morning, there were ten things to choose from! Including FRESH GARLIC – as well as crushed peanuts and six kinds of chilies. I'm fairly certain it was an excessive consumption of garlic which led me to losing my last job.
But nobody minds in Thailand, where the air is full of aromas, and this noodle shop was a great find.
Right now I'm staying in Mae Sai, at the northernmost tip of Thailand. In this photo, I'm in one of those bungalows on the left side of this photo. The right side of that dirty river is Myanmar.
And here's a photo of some figurines at a temple. Locals look at me like I'm crazy taking photos of such commonplace things, but they're exotic to me.
Anyways, being a border town, Mae Sai has an enormous outdoor market, selling all manner of cheap crap, and I'll post lots of photos of it soon.
