Yeah so my trip up north was good for me. I saw over 30 species of bird and all sorts of shit really. I'll post some pics soon. I havent gotten them developed yet then i have to scan them. I was wearing a suit that really made me look like i was straight out of fairinheit 451. It was kind of gross. The job consisted of mixing random animal parts with grain and canola oil so the bears would be attracted to it. I went into some army/bush man mode. All that shit i thought i forgot came back in an instant. I was doing pace counts and following deer paths to find water, plus i found a clearing that predatory birds love to hunt in. I saw a bald eagle and 13 red tail hawks in a matter of days.

There is one good thing that i found out about myself while i was up there. There was an incident while i was in iraq when i had to pull a trigger to defend myself. I really dont want to get into it now. But when i killed that guy and i saw what a bullet really does to a person with my own eyes. The first thought that came into my head was a time i was in Nova Scotia as a teenager. I was on a fishing boat going to an island off of pegy's cove called puffin island. During that one boat ride i saw a sea turtle follow my boat and a whale jump from the water. It was the only thing that kept me from snapping while i was in iraq. On some level just thinking about the extreme oppisite of my situation really brought out the travisty of the whole thing. So that one thing i was talkinga bout is that i havent had any experiences like that since i got back home. So being up in a tree stand with binoculars and plenty of beer, really made me feel some peace again. It just seems like so long since i had that.

Another highlight of the trip is that i read Thus Spoke Zarathustra and a book written by Mo Hayder called The Devil of Nanking. Plus i found alot of animal bones. Ive been working on scrimshaw and other such projects with the shit i found. I found a deer that had been killed by a pack of wolves. So i took its head and cleaned it and am working on scrimshawing old runic symbols for wolves and making a reliquary out of the wolf tooth i found in its ribcage.
