I waited until the last hour of the year 2005 to realize that the person I wanted to bring in the new year with was not going to call.

So I bottled up my hurt feelings and went to say hello to some old friends. And even in a crowded bar surrounded by people have I know for years...and years...and even most of my life-- I never felt so alone.
