"As a specialist in the field of last looks, this one was pretty iconically Claire."

Well I started out/down a dirty road/started out/all alone

And the sun went down/out across the hill/and the town lit up/the world got still

I'm learning to fly/but I ain't got wings

Before I go onto the meat of this, I'm going to tell everyone: Orlando Bloom has the raw talent to become an actor's actor, but he's not going to make it through to fulfillment of that potential in Pirates of The Caribbean or fantasy epics, but through things like his work in Elizabethtown and his Ridley Scott roles.

13 days from now, I'll be moving away from a small town for the first time in my life. I've spent 21 years of my life in small towns -- Newburyport, Salem, Eliot, and finally settling down in South Berwick. 19 years of this -- there's still pictures buried in my family's photo albums of us sitting in the house that would become our home as it was being built. I'm used to the slow hustle of the small town. You know what it is if you've ever lived in one. Things happen, just... with trepidation. Quietly.

I may have gotten used to the hustle, to the tortoise-like quality of progress, but I never enjoyed it. I've always been a big city boy at heart. When I stepped into Boston at 10 years old, I slipped away from my school field trip and wandered freely. Dumb in 1995, maybe, but I was around North Station. And there was something that accustomed me to these high ceilings and large glass windows that you'd find yourself looking out on, while behind you some $12-an-hour guide explains that you can't go on the Freedom Trail for some reason.

Yet I kept myself slowed down; I had the chance to jump ship immediately after high school. I never took it. Maybe it would've been the best choice. I don't know.

But I'm moving into a place where friends old and new are now, something I wouldn't have had if I had gone three years ago.

And in 13 days, I have to start my life all over again. I can't wait. My stuff is packed. I'm ready.

But before then, many many viewings of Elizabethtown.

Holy Crap! Thats possibly the best response anybody's ever given to a blog of mine.

and its very true. I was just, more or less, thinking out loud, but your words are true.
