So I think I'm entirely prepared to put together Superman Returns: today, I got my hands on the official selection of John Ottman's score to the film. And it is quite a damned fine score, if I do say so myself. It screams Superman from every corner of the work, flowing in and out of themes set up by John Williams into pieces that entirely can be given to Ottman. He toys with the Williams pieces for quite a bit of time -- but when he gives you a few unadulterated moments of what Richard Donner described as "the music saying "Sup-er-man", you're going to probably be knocked out of your seat in the theater.

I've spent the last couple days rewatching the original 1978 feature film again and again, and I keep on finding new things to enjoy about it. The littlest bits of Superman lore are laid out across the running time, and the playful pacing infects me more and more. I'm so prepared for the return, it hurts.

I haven't been this excited over a movie since Return Of The King. It's palpable, hopefully contagious, and damned annoying to deal with the fact that there's still eight days and at least one hour before I'm sitting in the dark, hearing the horns, watching the ever-so-iconic shield fly backwards through the empty reaches of space...

... So much time, yet so little.

But it's the home stretch. I can make it.

... I hope.

so is the V a good transfer, direct from DVD, like your Munich one, or is it not so good?

The realtor told us at the last minute that we had to come up with $2100 before he would give us the keys. I had to have my check sent from NJ, so it took a couple days to get here. He lied about it not getting there on Friday, so I had to Fedex a second check, when the first one was already there. He's a jerk.
