It's so nice to relax.

I'm in Bat Country (read: zombiesdontrun's apartment), listening to First Impressions of Earth, and pretty much being a snotty brat on the message boards here. I haven't felt this comfortable in a long time.

My screenplay's only three pages in, but I feel I may finally have something here.

To explain the story in one fell swoop:

There are three people the story centers around. Eric, whom we almost constantly follow -- a young and confused non-college kid who's been stuck in the town he's grown up in. He doesn't quite like it. Then there's Angela, who has the same problem -- but has learned to temper her hatred of living at home with the temptations of boys, liquor, and parties. And, finally, Gwen, who shares the same problems as the other two, but wants so much more out of life than the other two.

At heart, all three have one thing they want: affection. They cross paths at a party that they all are attending -- Eric runs into Angela first. He remembers her from high school, part of a different clique than the one he ran in -- she was one of the popular ones, he was a drama boy. He never noticed her as much as he does at this party, and she almost seems to take pity on him as he clumsily introduces himself. He ends up with her cell phone number. He goes outside for a smoke and runs into Gwen. He ends up spending the rest of the party outside, with her, smoking and talking. There's something adrift about her, and it's evident in the way she looks at him, but Eric still has Angela on his mind. Gwen writes her number on his hand, bets him $5 she'll call first, and with that, the party ends.

The next morning, Eric decides to call... Angela. They set up some lunch, and then as soon as he hangs up, Gwen calls. They set up dinner. His date with Angela goes middling at best; but because of her former existence as the queen of high school, he throws caution to the wind and seems to head down her path. His dinner with Gwen goes as well as it could; she's utterly infatuated with him, even as his mind wanders to Angela.

His choice is clear; he has two girls, one whom he wants, one who wants him. One is his perfect fit, and yet he doesn't go with that; instead, he chases after a dream that's long since degraded into an empty shell of it's former self. He dumps a lot on Gwen, breaks her heart again and again -- all for chances to be around Angela. He finally goes and has a night out with Gwen after many backing-outs and false starts, but when they head back to her apartment and she makes a bold move, he snaps at her, and leaves her in an emotionally wrecked state.

Within the next few days, he sleeps with Angela. They do it in the backseat of his car, and it's then that she informs him that she has a boy. An Army boy. She fucks around to keep from being along while he's gone. And Eric takes this badly. He hits up a party, heartbroken and a bit twisted from being led down so far a path, and screws around with a couple of girls. Violently. He's bitter and lonesome, and to be honest, he deserves it for the way he's treated Gwen.

He decides to try to fix things with her; he goes to her work, determination in his eyes and a quivering pain still rolling around in his stomach and heart. He attempts to patch things up all at once, but she's unresponsive and he leaves, disgusted with his attempt. A co-worker takes her home; we find out she's actually a virgin, a girl that went by unnoticed in high school for her looks and her demeanor.

She fucks her co-worker, not entirely of her own accord. She gives in; I don't suggest that it's rape, but merely half that -- a girl giving in because she's tired of being held aloft and alone, apart from the rest of the people she knows.

Eric decides there's only one way to end this; the next morning, he confronts Angela, and in a heated argument, comes out in the right. He then realizes what he needs to do; he heads to Gwen's house.

Here's where it splits. I have two endings. One hopeful, one darker. The hopeful one has the co-worker leaving before Eric gets there, and he races up the steps. Gwen opens the door, fumbles an apology. Gwen makes him feel guilty -- rightly so -- and then finally invites him in after she realizes that this might be her last shot at happiness.

The darker one keeps the co-worker at Gwen's apartment, and when Eric gets there, he answers, and Eric leaves after a long silence. The co-worker goes back to Gwen's room, and she asks who it was. The co-worker merely says it was no one, and slides back into bed with her, where she stares into camera, defeated, sad, empty.

That's it in a nutshell.

Whadda ya think?

I think I would have seen the photos by now if that had happened. I have seen some pictures of all of the other shit I did.

I miiiight like the dark ending more. But I'm cynical have a new hatred for romance. The less cynical side of me cannot pick which ending I prefer. I guess I told you that before, though.

You were talking about an SG who lost weight...I'd like the inspiration...but what was her name?
