high tech cluster fuck: day 2
when the techs set the program up for our slitter/scorer monday they never bothered to ask what size of width paper we run. they assumed we had a 98" capacity and set all references based on that. amusingly, we have 110" capacity
now besides having to do all order entry manually and preprogram the rest of the machinery that is supposed to run automaticly any order wider that 98" i have to have a tech assist me so i know what numbers to enter SO I CAN LIE TO THE MACHINE to make sure it sets up properly.
now that they know the offsets and preset points they told upper managment they could have things straightened out in 4-6 hours of downtime to which mangement responded "sorry, we are too far behind now to take that much downtime" sooooo i have to run like this the rest of the week. heh good thing it's a new year because i get 4 brand spankin' new weeks of vacation which i think i'll be needing after this week is over with. on the plus side the techs were impressed by the speed at which i learned. they were amazed that they only had to show me once.
