i went to the chinese resturant by my house this afternoon and ran into a friend of mine who is a volunteer fireman. he filled me in on the accident that happened by my house at 1am saturday. there is a small S curve just south of my house. he drove straight through it, hitting a small tree and flippig the car end over end. the driver was ejected. i heard him race by my house but i didn't hear him crash. yet, i heard the sirens and the emergency helicopter which landed on my road. i had walked by the site later that day and observed the crash site. it's almost certain that alcohol was involved as there were no skid marks. i could make out the high speed tire marks where he had driven straight rather than turn. bits of the vehicle here and there. a side mirror, the plastic grill, various light covers. at about 1:20 am saturday my friend who was driving home from celebrating new years saw the accident scene and called me to see if i was alright. he was worried since i have a bad habit of walking to the store at night and thought i might have been hit. happy new year....
