*deep sigh* another friday off of work due to lack of orders.

i asked my friend lawrence which movie movie he'd like to see today. spider man 2 or F 9/11. he asked me what 9/11 was about i said "political documentary" so off to see 9/11 we went....

most of what was in the movie came as no revelation to me as i have been reading up on the subjects he covered for the last two years ( go buy and read The Best Democracy Money Can Buy by greg palast!). we have been fooled to think that we are free. to some extent we have done this to ourselves on a personal level by not taking a good look at our selves and questioning our motives and beliefs. more and more our society is being divided into idealogical "fragments". gone are the days when we could debate an issue and look at both sides. now you have to have a narrow one-sided view of things. this very apperant in our politicians as one that changes his mind about things is a "waffler" so?!? i want someone who can change their mind! it's called thinking. they could change it for the worse, but they could change it for the better as well. that is the true price of a democracy: the right to do the wrong thing but the ability to change it if need be. this country was founded on the idea of an on going social experiment. i have read the letters of thomas jefferson. i admire that man. his notion was that we, as a nation, never stop evolving. always trying to become better than the generation before. that is why we can change our constitution to go with the will of the public as needed and , as has been done in the past ( prohibition ), can be repealed. this is why i cannot say i am a democrat or a republican, i go by my conscience and that alone. party lines are for zealots. a free, thinking society should have as few actual politcal party members as possible. but, in this society your political party is worn like just another brand name piece of clothing. oh man! pespsi sucks! i only drink coke! heh that really is a good analogy now that i think about it. there is about as much difference between our political parties as there is pepsi and coke. sure, they may taste a little different but read the lables.. the contents are almost exactly the same.

eh, now i'm babbling... go forth and think,children.

I'll probably go see the movie but I'll wait until it gets to the cheap flicks. I think Micheal Moore is just as one sided as the people he rails against.

Personally I think they're all fucking idiots.

great insights, man. Open-mindedness is truly harder to come by, because everyone has a set opinion on everything, just like you said. And if we truly want to weigh both sides of an issue, we are trampled in the ensuing ideological battle that ensues.

Look at any so-called "news" show with guests with opposing viewpoints. It without fail turns into a shouting match. I'd like to hear both sides of any particular issue. Which is why I turn to the mellow tones and hues of PBS and NPR. smile

Perhaps what we need in this country is a stillness, a quietude.
