Probably going to see a band at High5 tonight called The Spunks, a band out of New York with Japanese members. They played there last year, opening for Gito Gito Hustler.

Well tonigt, going to Little Brothers to the 2nd Annual Columbus Cover up, where bands cover songs from some of the older bands in Columbus like Scrawl, Great Plains, Monster Truck 5, etc. I know last year the Townsmen covered The Gunshy Ministers, part of their communal clan in the old days of Ugly Stick (I was actually part of that little group back then)....

We tonight I invited a friend over I haven't seen in awhile that hope is doing okay. His mother died after a brief illness last November, then in January, his father was diagnosed with cancer. So I know he has been spending more time with his father and taking him to the doctors. A lady at work lost both in-laws in one week to cancer.

Well tonight I go see Apollo Sunshine and Palomar at Little Brothers. Also, last night saw them working on the arches in The Short North, so maybe the end to that fiasco is finally in sight.

Going to go see Holly Golightly play tonight at Little Brothers. I seem to recall her playing in Thee Headcoats or somebody like that, but I have been to so many shows over the years I forget.

Another blogger reported that the owner of Liu Pon Xi is closing his restaurant, but keeping the spot on the Cap. He will be making two new restaurants, one being called Blue Fish Grill, a seafood place with Asian element and the other yet unnamed. I wonder if having Haiku, Lemongrass, and others nearby in the Convention Center District led to this decision to change...

Well I went to see The Walkmen at a sold out Little Brothers last night. While they were good, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how good the second band that played was. The Broken West do a Teenagae Fanclub influenced style that they pulll off quite well. But then Merge Records always seems to find good bands for their label.

North Star Cafe's second location in Clintonville has finally opened. This is not the only additional one to be opening, but this is the first expansion to this popular restaurant. Many people in that area have been looking forward to it's opening, but then maybe Short North residents may benefit as well. They may be able to have a little saner, shorter wait in line...

Well today, Saturday, will be real crazy in my area with both the monthly Gallery Hop, but also the Arnold Schwarchenegger Classic going on as well. Glad I am heading out of the area at night to go see Elana James at Thirsty Ear in Grandview.

I went to Gito Gito Hustler at High 5 and it ended up being the right choice. I saw many people I knew and one of the opening bands Donovan had just joined. So all in all a great choice and a great night.
