Movie review:
The Underworld,
I was left conflicted. Great cinemaphotography, good plot, weak acting especially at the end. That was the closest I've come to getting into a vampire movie since Dracula (remember? with sissy boy Kinue Reeves). *sigh
Soylent Green,
I loved it, I was just amazed. I thought they only made boring movies in the 70's. You could think about it on so many levels (psychology, sociology, economics, etc).
Take home information: Better keep an eye on all those crazy soy manufactures. Hungry hippies smoking too much green = human energy bars.

I don't remember that movie... at all... I remember Lost Boys.
i hear ya. there's a huge urge in me to just stand up and say "fuck you. whatever you want to do to me is fine, but i'm not afraid." and see what happens. i've never been in a fight, but i'm not afraid of the idea. i'm sure i would be if punches got thrown, but whatever.
however, going with what you said, i'm not interested in tangling with some kid who feels his respect is on the line in front of his friends. he's perhaps not thinking about his wife and house and dog and magazine and company and so forth. when i was younger, even i didn't feel i had much to lose and i was a regular guy who just hadn't gotten to a point in life where i had many people or entities to answer too. so yeah, your'e right. talking sense, or even talking shit, to the warped values of a lot of today's youth isn't a very good idea.
funny, my neighbor across the street saw some kids pour soda on his car. they're teenagers, they live right up the street. he went and got them, made them wash his car while he sat on the porch and watched, shook their hand, and sent them on their way. the cause and effect should stand as a pretty good lesson to those kids. i didn't want the kid who threatened to shoot me to just get away with acting that way, but literally standing in the spot somebody got shot at a month or so ago, i wasn't sure how to react.
choose my battles? and always make sure they don't involve physical contact maybe?
