I must admit I'm more of a steak man too. But I'm really into the idea of hitting up local vege markets and buying stacks of vegetables for stupidly low prices, and then cooking them. Like, a couple of Spanish onions, a couple of potatoes, a capsicum (Australian for bell pepper, I think), some broccoli, and a huge bag of finely diced mushroom... whack it together in a frying pan (cooking the onions and potatoes first, 'cuz they're the hardest), and add some kofte or high quality mince or good quality chicken thigh fillet or whatever, and some curry paste bought from an Asian supermarket.
