one of my favorite things happened the other day...i saw another mantis in the backyard!
i was worried that i wouldn't see any this year, because i didn't see any all summer. when cleaning up the yard in the spring, i threw out a bunch of mantis eggs by accident
i didn't know what they were, so i tossed them in the refuse bag with the leaves. later that night, i looked them up online and freaked, cuz i don't want to be responsible for the death of the mantis. but later i noticed there were a few more egg pouches on the side of the garage. and this past weekend, i finally saw one in the garden. I picked him up to move him behind the garage, so he wouldn't get trapped in the fall leave cleaning. he snapped at me, and tried to claw my fingers. its kinda sad though...its getting real cold outside, and i know he won't be around much longer. i hope the mantis returns next year!
