I have read The Story of the Eye....Bataille is always a pleasure...Tears of Eros is a meditation on the psychosocial impact of the human knowledge of sex and death...

Another decadent delight is Octave Mirbeau's "The Torture Garden"....once called "the most decadent text of the 19th century"...

saw the second part of the Karl Valentin festival at the Goethe Institut..he was fantastically hilarious...i noticed during the film how much of his personality he was able to convey without any sound....perhaps more than many film actors of today.. with all their accoutrement..
