Enjoy Today

Youth is bestowed on the young
How little they know
They rush from one
good time to another
Which one was the best?
They can't remember
The anticipation of tomorrow
is so great, they can't hardly wait
Take head, you youth of today;
Learn to relax
and savor each good hour.
Make it last though,
It was the tallest tower
Enjoy today
There may not be a tomorrow

~Edwin Dale Berry

I never met Mr. Berry. His son and I are friends. Not real close but we find ourselves in each others company often. We share a friend that I consider one of my closest. Mr. Berry apparently lived a full and blessed life. He was obviously loved by many. I do not know when he wrote this but it hit home with me. I have a tendency to sometimes get riled up over things and not appreciating how blessed I am. I also fill my life with wonderful experiences. So many that I cannot even remember some of them. Sweet Ammie and I have been together for 8 months. we have a silly good time all the time we are together. Sure I remember alot of wonderful things. But every minute, every second i am with her is incredible. No matter what we are doing. It is impossible to keep every thing she does that makes me smile in my memory. Same thing with my daughters. They are growing so fast. We have so much fun when we are together. But how do you keep those memories. The truth is you don't. So...... you have to stop and savor the moment. Take it all in because it may well go away. The mind can only hold so much. I have always believed that experiences were more valuable than stuff. I just wish I had all of them. Imagine this. Imagine if you had kept a journal of every great experience of your life. How important would that be to you. To be able to go back and read what was important to you when you were 10. What fun thing you did the summer you were 12. Exactly how you felt when you first made love to the first person you loved. all the experiences of every concert you have seen. What it was like to drive the first time. What is was like to catch your first buzz. All of the people you have met, what the meeting was like andhow they impacted your life since then. I am glad to be keeping a journal now. I wish I wrote more,. I wish I had written my life down as it was happening. I have lived a great life. I love Ammie, i love the kids (all of them), I love my family, i love my friends, i love myself, I love my life. All of it that I can remember that is.... smile
