I had a very fascinating debate/discussion with a Young Republican Leader in south Orange County,CA. It was scary too. We talked for about an hour, on many topics, and much of the time was spent in disbelief of what he was saying. He didn't think the Rodney King beating was excessive even in the slightest. He thinks poor people of color in poor neighborhoods have an equal opportunity to information and higher education as wealthy white families in his neighboorhood. He didn't see anything wrong with a cop shooting a black teenager who stole a purse (or whatever) in the back that was running away from the cop even when the cop admitted he only shot the teenager to keep him from getting away. The Republican's reason for thinking that's OK? "he's a criminal". I could go on, and on. OH, one more thing, The Republican said "I'm not against a police state" - and he meant it, I asked him 3 more times, he wasn't joking. I say ewww.


I tried, but he wouldn't budge on anything, and neither did I. All in all we remained calm and polite, shook hands and went our own way. He is the future and that makes me sad.

My cousin bought me condoms from the 99cents store as a joke. Would anybody trust generic 99cent store condoms? I hope not.
