Went out for a Johnnie Walker whiskey tasting with EJ at the Fort Mason Center in SF. (which only cost us $5)
We were served Kobe beef blue cheese sliders, eggplant caviar, shrimp quesadilla, and a free old fashions made with Johnnie Walker Black.
The bar:
At the tasting I got to try the $225 bottle of the infamous Blue Label and learned a ton about whiskey tasting. I learned that 1) adding water/ice to whiskey can completely change the flavor (which I knew) but so can chilling it in the freezer (which I did not know) and 2) They had us but a drop of Green Label on our hands and rub it between our palms in order to "rub off" the alcohol smell and get to the true smell of the whiskey. It was an amazing change in smell.

and then went and had some great food and cocktails at Absinthe for dinner. Pretty pricey but they made a great sazerac and we had brought enough money for a fancy dinner at the end of the night.
All in all it was a great night and a nice way to spend time away from my desk and school work.

Well, more or less because there just isn't anything for me down here, anymore. I want to get on with school and whatnot and if I do it here I'll be stuck for another 2 years. As pleasant as it is down here, I miss my old life in Philly, my friends, family, etc.
