I'm living in the movie Groundhog Day except I am not the walking prophet that is Bill Murray and I do not have Chris Elliot anywhere near me for comic relief. I'm watching the same blank faces drink the same shitty beer. They're playing the same drinking games and fighting over the same macho causes. My only problem is I hate to look down upon people that are not the same as me and I also don't want these people to feel like I'm avoiding them. Basically, I strive to not be the typical American selfish male...often at great discomfort to myself. I've still got all of this United Methodist gobbleygook fightin' away at my actions/motivations. I really wanna be a good guy. Fight for what's right. Chivalry. All of that nonsense sold in the old western films I had a healthy dose of as a child. Lord knows the "Old West" was never like any of the bullshit Wild Bunch or John Wayne flicks. But damn those were some strong ass qualities to have. I guess I want the peeps at my funeral to say "Goddamn, this bastard may have drunk his weight in whiskey, but he sure was always right by folks and meant every word he said." That would hit my ghostly ear quite nice.
On a lighter note...there aint nuthin' wrong with Marvin Gaye's WHAT's GOING ON. Still sound as holy as it did the first time.
