I'm listening to entirely too much Nick Cave and Michael Gira's SWANS. Greed/Holy Money has been pounding away in my car cd player. Especially, TIME IS MONEY (BASTARD). It just plummels you with its unrelenting hopelessness. And then there is that break with Jarboe's track BLACKMAIL. It's like that brief moment of air before it's back to the meat grinder. What an amazing group of people. I'm really glad there is music that sounds like I feel. If there wasn't, I would be shooting speed and robbing day care centers. Instead of crime, drugs, and alcohol I just burrow into the basement with my umpteen CDs and forget about what's going on outside. I'm sure I don't want any part of it. There is just so much stuff down here! Joy Division, Chopin, The Monochrome Set, Today Is The Day, Blood Sweat & Tears, Black Dice, Gabor Szabo, T-Rex, Buddy Rich, Mars Volta, Paul Desmond, John Cale, Goblin, Django Reinhardt, Soft Machine, The Cows, Ornette Coleman, Joe Meek, Kraftwerk, Davis Redford Triad, Idris Mohammed, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, The Cramps, Grover Washington Jr, Mongo Santamaria, Captain Beefheart, Elvis Costello, Joe Farrell, Dave Holland, Roy Buchanan, Dead Boys, Buckinghams, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Cheap Trick, Fear, Ginger Baker's Air Force. I've never really sat back and appreciated all of the things I've been blessed with. Maybe I should do more of that than bitching and moaning about the minor negative aspects of being alive.

Michael Gira just has that little slice of southern twang in his voice. Was he originally from the state of Georgia?? He just sounds like a dying share cropper spitting what little venom is left at god. I can't get enough of that angry Swans material. Although I'm big into the 90s variation of The Swans as well as the latest Angels Of Light work. You only get so many voices who sound real and convincing as this man does.
