This mini-vacation has been a pretty decent layover. Unfortunately, things are going to get a little more difficult at work in the next week or so. I'm losing one employee to our new store and another employee is getting a job in the electronics field. Problem is that they were two crucial employees. I'm going to have to replace something like 55 hours or schedule and that person is going to have to be a marquee talent. What I find hilarious is how people assume working in record store is some kind of walk in the park. If they had any idea what kind of shit we get put through sometimes I think they would be whistling a different tune.

random burnout "I'd like to work at this fuckin' place, dude. All you guys do is play video games all day and listen to music!!"

"Not quite, chucklehead. Run along now I'm sure there is a Bob Marley blacklight poster you can stare at somewhere. Come back when you don't smell like Taco Bell and Tai Sticks."

Since the job only starts out at 5.25 and hour that is the kind of shit I have to contend with all of the time. Either that or criminals on the parole employment hunt, baggers from grocery stores, suburbanite first time job applicants (who are the worst of the bunch).

That is the category I despise the most. I can partly UNDERSTAND what makes trashy East Toledo people turn out to be Toxic Avengers of Low Moral Quality. They're poor, stupid, and ignorant. The kids from Oregon, Rossford, Sylvania, Maumee, or Northwood have no excuse whatsoever for acting like Lil Jon & The East Side boys at a skate park. They have all of this opportunity to advance. Perhaps one has to come out of hardship and a handout free environment. That's the rough shake I was handed my Junior year in high school.

"Well, if you wanna drive a car, get new clothes and food you had better find a better job"

"What about football and extra-curricular activities that I'm involved in?"

"Life's fulla tough choices, boy. Welcome to the dance, new fish. Three things comin' down the pipe for you boy- Bills, Taxes, and then death. Get used to it"

It's quite a trying concept to grapple with. Comraderie and community are very important to young people. Regardless if it was sports, band, writing, theater, drugs, or whatever. You need some kind of TRIBE to get down with. It kinda sets one on the path of thinking of SOLUTIONS to the insanity of American society. Is it because we're become a large populace of individual moles tunnling through the dirt and looking for the golden worm? Is my pain of spending more time making the bread and isolating myself from the TRIBE not just exclusive to myself? I do believe that most of you folks out there feel s the same way I do in this matter. Does it make me feel better to know that other people are wallowing in the workingman's hell as I am? Not specifically. Just to know that I'm in a lineup of people who have just about had enough of fading in the maze and hunting down the rotten cheeze. Maybe this is some kind of beginning step to bringing back the TRIBE mentality. Who knows.

It's a rotten busines caring. There isn't any money in giving a shit about anyone else. You have to reinsert some other kind of file folder in your mind/filing cabinet about the definition of success.

Plus, the trash had better not cross my path in a rude manner or I'm throwing them all out of the store. A wounded WhiskeyFightPit has no time for poor people and their bullshit shenanigans. Yeah, it would be easier to put them all in a gas shower, but then who would get my order at Bob Evans?

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
Duke Ellington "Live At The Whitney"

Wouldn't it be nice if things chimed along like The Duke plays that piano?

One thing that makes me feel good about people-- the continuing growth of Journals about BrookeLynne's problems:
ebin, Aries, pyewacket, Clara... there's some fuckin' cool people on here.
I didn't do a Journal on BL cuz 1) someone's gotta tell the kids about Vonnegut and Magellan in long, unread Journals smile 2) I don't like to be a copycat, and people had done it already, and written in her Journal already, and 3) I kinda figured I'd send a lot of money or stuff to her instead.
