I think the biblical noise rock western is going to the back burner for now. Things are starting to get pretty saucy up here in Toledo. The mutants are getting each others scent and flocking to the Reynolds Road Allied Records. New voices are wanting to join the noise collective. One of the dudes is in the group Stylex...who absolutely fucking rock. If you like your Brainiac (everybody loves Brainiac)...then you like the Stylex. The guy is super talented and will bring a distinctive spice to our little Stone Soup.

Tomorrow I'm gonna call one of my friends I haven't jammed with in a long time. We used to have a little broke-ass punk/noise/blues/shoegazer band together back in the early 90s. I was a whopping thirteen or fourteen at the time. Even then we were digging on Arthur Brown, Early Pink Floyd, Sonic Youth, and Brian Jones presents The Pipes Of Pan at Jajouka.

This Pipes Of Pan thing is some of the most primal, mallet dropping, trance enducing, fucking native expression I've ever heard. Apparently, these cats have been doing this shit for hundreds of years in Morocco. The only modern equivalent is Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music. What makes this onslaught more necessary is the fact that it's all acoustic instruments and basic percussion. It just cements my idea of music being cosmic and part of the air, water, and land. Everyone just needs the vision and desire to tap into it. Some college degree in music theory is not important. Let it Blurt. Like the Lester Bangs biography.

I really clicked with this guy back in my younger days. I feel really bad that we haven't maintained a working relationship over the years. Foolishly, I went the straight and narrow path in high school and lost touch with him. We've been catching up with each other a few times a year. I hope this noise collective re-solidifies our friendship. He does have a wife, two kids, and the house going for him now, so I'm sure we're not going to be hanging out like we did. We would fucking hang out for days at his grandmas place just melting the fucking amps with sonic abuse. It feels great to know I haven't lost any of the enthusiasm I had for sonic freak-outs. Last time I caught up with him, the family life was kinda puttin' the vice on him. This church of nosie will bring back the fire....I know it. You gotta have release in this modern life. I know I say this in everyone of my silly journals, but it's one of the main constants. Sitting around with the career and television will destroy you. I really regret letting our friendship fade. I was selfish and blind to the people who are part of my life. Slowly, I have been correcting my past sins and trying to be a positive influence to what I coexist with. If that sounds hippy-dippy, than blame my long, Jesus hair.

When lambs are thrown into a pit full of rabid werewolves, for no reason, I am against that. What brings this up is the current Dillinger Escape Plan tour. The DEP is touring with Poison The Well and Further Seems Forever. Poison the Well past work hasn't been too bad. When you need a swift kick to the behind, a little Poison The Well will get the blood flowing. I scratch my neatly-trimmed beard to the addition of Further Seems Forever to this tour. They are the musical equivalent of The Lizzie McGuire movie. That putz from Dashboard Confessionals used to be in that group so you know the marshmellow cloud these fucks are coming from. My vision is of Further Seems Forever floating down off of some smiling clouds, holding hands with three or four CareBears. The members of FSF start weeping at the sight of a homeless man, and then the Care Bears shout "WE CARE" and shoot little rainbows out of the emblems on their stomachs. C'mon! You remember those Care Bear movies! Anyway, wouldn't the average DEP or PTW fan just stomp on the larnyx of a FSF? It's just silly to put them in the same room together. Although I hate FSF, I don't want to see them mauled by some street punks. It's all part of my new Jesus phase.

ROBERT PALMER IS DEAD. HE WAS A CON ARTIST. HE AIDED THE DEATH OF ROCK AND POP MUSIC. I FORGIVE HIM FOR HIS SINS AGAINST TASTE AND SANITY. MAY ROBERT PALMER'S AFTERLIFE BE PLEASANT.

ALSO, GEORGE PLIMPTON IS DEAD. I RESPECT THE FACT THAT HE TRIED OUT FOR THE DETROIT LIONS, BUT I FEEL HE WAS BATTING FOR THE WRONG TEAM IN POLITICS MOST OF THE TIME. HE IS FORGIVEN FOR HANGING OUT WITH KILLERS AND THIEVES AKA US PRESIDENTS. MAY GEORGE PLIMPTON'S AFTERLIFE BE PLEASANT.

GOOD DAY TO YOU ALL!!!

soundtrack of the day
Miles Davis "Complete Jack Johnson Sessions"
It just came out and I happy like a jackrabbit in a pop-rocks factory. They finally released the sessions Miles cut with Sonny Sharrock in the band. He's playing an echoplex and bending the fuck out of my mind. What an amazing set of songs. John McLaughlin is cutting loose like a mixture of Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane. It's expensive but worth it.

Well I'm in Allied a bit. Damon is my cousin, so that's how you'd associate me. I go to a few shows and shit, I don't know Toledo sucks as far as places to be.

By the way aren't FSF on a Christian label or something? This only adds more perplexity to your very accurate comments.

Dude I love Stylex!! Some friends of mine (trailer park ninja's) played a show with them in bowling green. I have a t-shirt I bought at their show the next day at some outdoor mini-fest, it's yellow with the outline of Ohio and their name in the middle of it!(it's one of my favorite shirts) they rock pretty f***in' hard!!!
