I guess it's really hip to hate Jesus these days. I'm fucking tired of the whole gothic aversion to god and how that qualifies all bands on the Metropolis label to be really fucking cool. I'm going with the notion that Jesus was a hip ass motherfucker and his words got twisted along by people who realized the power in what he said. Think about it for a minute. Now think about the Iggy Pop song LUST FOR LIFE. This song is used and abused by our corporate overlords for vast emptinesses like cruise ship ads. So when the anthropologists of the future dig up these ads, without any knowledge of the might that is Ig, they will assume that the Igmeister is the music bringer for fantasy cruises. Granted this theory is based on the the possibility that the world is going to end and most records of there being an Iggy Pop would be destroyed by the atomic blast or whatever. Could we have the whole thing wrong about Jesus? Are these VNV Nation fuck ups prancing around in their own DARK SHADOWS set for no fucking reason? I think they are. Jesus was the first hippie. This cat wasn't down with all of that Roman gold. He knew the fucking score and what it meant to be a good person. And it sure as fuck isn't some book of rules or commandments. I could hang with Jesus. Fuck all of you Cradle Of Filth Rocky Horror motherfuckers. Atheism is a boring fucking trend. Granted I don't believe in the practice of organized religion but I believe in the practice of being a decent human being. This is something most Goths aren't gonna understand. Not brewing around in self-pity, drinking fake Absinthe, and reading a bunch of Aleister Crowley...but actually being a positive person independent of a faith or lack of faith. Maybe the idea of a GOD or DEVIL is actually the potential for man to be either GOOD or EVIL. The struggle to be decent is what makes the man. GOD and the DEVIL perhaps live in us all, maybe it's life that is test to which one we serve. And religion or anti-religion could be GOOD or EVIL. Neither side is right.
