The Great What's Next

I leave for Vietnam tomorrow morning at 9:31. I've spent the last two weeks changing apartments, working and running entirely too many errands. And I still don't think I'm done. But it's better.

My new place has stained glass windows everywhere, large parlor doors that seperate the rooms, 10-foot windows and 15-foot ceilings. I have a solid brass sink in the bathroom, and an outside yard layered with bricks and tables and chairs and other completely random shit from my landlord's old art gallery. My backyard is a place where objects go to die. The contents of this file are:

And then of course there are the pink flamingos and rotten dolls:

There isn't much to say here. I haven't been keeping in touch with anyone, and I feel bad about it, but life has been unusually hectic lately. In a good way, I think. So this is kind of my send off, my great farewell, as it were. I'll be back, but this is what you'll see for a few weeks. I'll bring back pictures and cobra venom and a concubine. And communist paraphenalia. And. And.

Here is an interlude of New Orleans:

We've got interesting burial places here because we're under water. Mostly they get eroded and they crumble and fall apart, especially some of the older, masoleum-type structures.

So yea, I fly to Dallas, TX tomorrow morning, and then straight to Tokyo, and then to Hanoi, where I will be staying. It will be roughly 24 hours of travel time, and I'll be on a 12 hour time difference. I'll also probably get sick on the plane, so I'm eating Hall's Defense Drops.

Once in Vietnam, I'll be traveling to Thailand and Cambodia, and staying for two or three nights at the Oriental, in Bangkok, which I'm told is one of the nicest hotels in the world. I'll bring back pictures for whoever cares.

I feel like one of those characters who awkwardly stumbles off stage to staggered applause.

Live it up. Bring back photos. I can't wait to read the tales you'll weave upon your return.
