the construction next door is really putting a damper on my beauty sleep. they start work each weekday morning around 7am, rebuilding the old cat hospital that burned down two years ago, right across the street. actually, not even across the street. if you go out on my second story balcony and look to your right, that's where the old practice used to be. it's roughly three buildings that all caught fire, all covered in scaffolding and in various stages of repair / disrepair now. and this makes it look like some war-torn city, some european disaster site. there's only a smallish yard seperating me from it, with a large white dog and a green food bowl. he sleeps most of the day, except for when he's barking.
this morning i've been up, downloading music and finding release dates for next month's mag issue. my blonde redhead interview fell through because their agent forgot to get back to us with the availability, and interpol isn't doing any small press publicity on this tour, so both bands we were going to put on the cover this month fell through. now we're running with a local outfit who are actually really amazing, named chef menteur. i'm not sure what they have available online, but it would be worth checking out, if you're into psychadelic, spaced-out and atmospheric arrangements.
i just found this, which has some mp3s:
chef menteur
i'm going to see the arcade fire tonight. everyone keeps telling me they put on a great live show, so i guess i'll find out. tickets were 16 dollars with something like a 6.50 service charge through ticketmaster. wtf? now i remember why i don't buy tickets through them. that's more than 1/3 of the ticket price; that's insane.
i hope everybody is having a nice day, so far. i hope it stays nice. may nothing but happiness blah blah blah. tell mallory fun things to do in olympia. tell mle that you're happy her kitty, maddy, is feeling bunches of better. tell solaris that you like her new robot tattoo. and tell me a story that involves four fingers, a tin can, two snow monkeys and a bottle of diet sprite.
