it's nice and quiet outside today. the construction workers aren't here, and the temperature has actually dropped a few degrees (i.e. it's about 65, not 75). the screen prints that i ordered for my girlfriend for christmas just got in, so i have to pick those up, but i'm still waiting for my new photoshop cs package.
we watched 'dawn of the dead' last night. it was vastly entertaining, though not very good. the best line is when they're trying to figure out where to go to be safe, and they decide on the mall. i love it. there can't be much better than a horror movie that takes place almost exclusively inside of a shopping mall. you know?
music-wise, i've been listening to my old 'hum' albums nonstop. they were so fucking good, a perfect mixture of fuzzed out space rock, nineties alternative and effects-ridden drone. i think they were highly underrated. i remember seeing them play here probably 5 years ago, and people were stagediving during 'suicide machine,' which was very strange. plus all the lyrics are about science and outerspace.
here's a picture of my new belt buckle, from 1928, with a fucking longhorn on it!
and i've been working on this painting for the past few days, but it takes forever to do because i have to wait for the paint to dry everytime i add another layer. i usually use oils, or mixed media, but for this i'm doing only liquitex (i think) acrylics. i like it: i'm mixing them all into various pastel hues, and using nothing but straight lines. something is bothering me about the clouds, so i'll have to go back and add and/or fix some things up there.
i hope everybody has a nice day, i've got to run some errands and go to work. blah blah blah.
edited to say 'why the fuck are there just little blue question marks instead of pictures?' sorry. here is a monkey smilie instead:
