The trip home from Colorado last Sunday started at 5am in the rain & temps in the low 50's. Denver traffic wasn't too bad at 6:00-6:30. A huge rockslide closed off Westbound I-70 at Idaho springs, so I got the scenic detour through the little mining town's main street. Much of the street was torn up for construction, and traffic was stop and go ten feet, stop and go ten feet... It was a total mudwrestling event for me and the spectators were much amused. (locals walking to church in the rain). I'm totally surprised I didn't drop the bike or get stuck. That took at least an hour and a half. The rain cleared up just after that for the next 2-250 miles I guess. When it started again in Utah it was pretty serious. Got some hail for just a bit, lightning, thunder the rest of the way home. The rain got horrendous at times & the winds were gusty & from all directions. My last planned fuel stop was Mesquite, but when I got there the power had been knocked out, so no gas. I went on to Glendale where the power was also out. Fella said the Moapa Indian reservation has generators & they were pumping gas. The last time home I ran out of gas with 174 miles on the odometer, riding on to the reservation would put me at 180. Fuck it. I got there with 179 showing & putted to the pumps. I stood in 4" of water while pumping gas & watching lightning strike less than a mile away. I should've lit up a smoke just to push my luck, but there was a huge crowd of folks pumping & waiting their turn. An explosion would've been rather selfish. I passed lots of custom choppers on trailers going home from sturgis and plenty of other regular bikes (harley, jap & whatever) being ridden in the rain. Hope everyone else made it home safe too.

ugh...i was in that same mess ... just a day ahead of you so you had it much worse that we did .... but it was ugly and not fun at all...but i'm sure that it was worse for you outside rather than inside a car....at least you got home ok though
