Damn, I've just been fucking EVERYTHING up the last few days. I did something to my computer. The commando tank is fixable, I think. There's no actual creases, & most of the movement seems to have come from underneath. It's a VERY soft alloy, so I think with some coaxing it'll be alright. I probably won't attempt that myself though. Now for the embarassing bit. It had been leaking gas from the cap, so before I polished it up a few months back, I removed the cork gasket material & replaced it with the modern wonder "rubber". I looked it over thoroughly and thought I fully understood how it vented while still reducing spillage. I think I either didn't completely understand it & didn't get the holes in the rubber in the right spots OR the the rubber swelled from exposure to gas, compression from closing the cap, or because it thought that it would be fun. Whatever the cause, it didn't happen immediately, becuase I drove it around after doing this & it didn't starve for fuel due to a totally sealed tank. It has been sitting for some time awaiting it's new old amal carbs to replace the mikuni the last owner gave it. Anyhow, it's too goddamn hot & humid to do anything out in the garage now.
Also I'm overjoyed about my decision to resume smoking. I just wish there was a brand of tobacco that expressed my love of sarcasm. "For today's malcontent, sarcastic lifestyles there's doom cigarrettes." I just roll bugler because it's got a picture of somebody sticking something stupid in their mouth, which is pretty appropriate.
