Well, it was a long time coming I suppose. Add up all the years I've worked at the lake, I'm sure it's at least 10. Never dropped my keys in the water until today. At least I make a point of taking out on the docks just one key chain with only my truck key & two marina keys on it. I quit bothering to use those foam floaters because I never drop my keys. And I tried it out once in shallow water. I was curious if one floater would float three keys, not even close.

It was one of those slow motion scenes. If I weren't mesmerized by the sight of my keys bouncing off the edge of the dock I could have acted quickly & grabbed them. I realized that I would have had time to grab them an instant after it was too late. My next thought was that a floater would have given me an extra second, amounting to another chance once I snapped out of my initial disbelief. Plus the floater would have then been a larger target to grab. All of this struck me as absolutely hilarious and I immediately started laughing uncontrollably. Ok, not exactly. First I said "MOTHERFUCKER!! I LOVED THOSE KEYS!" This got a pretty good laugh from Justin. So I said go ahead & laugh, you're walking back to Boulder to get a truck key, which is when I started laughing.
