ok! Settle in with a coffee or beer or whatever, here's an actual old-fashioned Wheezy journal update chock full 'o phone pics courtesy of the new SG phone to folder thingy. try it, it's fun.

This is a nice storm coming in over Steamboat Springs Colorado. This is the view of the ski slopes from a grocery store parking lot, even the gloom is pretty in Colorado.

This is an old shack or hut alongside Mad Creek. The trail to here is about 3 miles, the first mile and a half is a non-stop climb gaining maybe 900 feet or so. Take that straight to hell with you cigarettes. There's another mile or so of mostly flat after this before turning around. I did two other trail rides of about the same length, and spent one day downhilling only courtesy of the ski area gondola. I like the downhill/lift set up, lots of excitement little work.

A restored barn along the Mad Creek trail. It's name is "Mad Barn" as you can see above the door. I have no idea what pissed off the creek and barn, it's really very peaceful up here. Maybe they get on each other's nerves? Perhaps the creek feels that the barn is mocking it? Maybe the creek occasionally rises up in a threatening manner toward the barn? Who knows. I wedged the phone in a couple rocks and set the timer. Check out how the wood behind my head looks like some crazy ass hair pointing out in two directions, nice.

Here's a bicycle I bought five years ago at a yard sale in Buffalo while sis was living there. I paid forty bucks for the bike and then the same to ship it home. I took it apart and stuffed it in the attic where it sat until a month ago. I cleaned and repacked all the bearings and put a new chain and new tubes on it, but took great care to not disturb any of the protective coating,(ie. the filthy grime and rust). That's an old padlock some kid must have used to lock the wheel to the frame so another kid wouldn't ride off on it. It has a couple broken spokes, but the rims are straight as can be. neat-o. I really don't have room for it, and I already have an old bike I've had since I was 18 that I adore with all my heart, it's got so many awesome memories tied to it. Riding this one would make me feel kinda weird. I have no idea what to do with it, I don't really want to get rid of it. I guess it'll live in the yard for a while.

This picture right here doesn't look like much does it? If you look hard you can make out some spots in the sky. The spots are birds, more specifically they are buzzards. They're common here in southern Nevada, mostly you see them around roadkill on the out of town roads, sometimes you'll see them hovering over some unfortunate scene off in the desert but you don't usually see a bunch circling anything in town. I can see six in the picture, there were eight all together which is a lot to see anywhere. A friend pointed them out to me and asked if I thought we should be worried, like maybe the vultures know something about us that we don't. But I relieved his anxiety by pointing out that they weren't actually hovering over us. That building you see the corner of the pic is the Boulder City Senior's Center.

That's all there is. there's nothing more to see in this journal.
You feel like something is missing? Maybe you suspect that something is not quite right with wheezy but you can't put your finger on it?
Relax I'm doing just fine. There hasn't been a new project for a while, that's all.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I got it cheap because it needs attention but it has a lot going for it, especially the suspension: Bus transmission with 3"longer/3" wider rear trailing arms set up with the heaviest of the VW bus CV joints/axles. Widened front beam with 2 1/2" longer arms, all new fox remote resevoir shocks, 4 wheel disc brakes, rack & pinion set-up, a full cage ties everything together from the front beam back to the transmission. Good seats & 5 point belts, lots more. Mostly this means it's made to beat on and should be a blast around here and maybe will get some MINOR launching action at the dunes. The motor (supposedly a 1915, but who knows) runs nice but pours oil out the pushrod tubes.

The custom california plate is meant to say "race desert" apparently. They said I could have the plate thinking I may be overjoyed to be the owner of a custom-plated vehicle. I'm in Nevada anyhow, but I really don't care much for custom plates. I can't imagine the car passing a Nevada VIN inspection, I'm not even going to try - it'll be off-road only. But I've decided that the custom California plate will stay anyhow because I have dubbed the car the... wait for it...

RollerCon was VERY interesting, and I kinda neglected to go to half of what I should have at it. I'll probably do a dump of what I observed on the Rollergirls group.

They still haven't gotten me my check. They should be still paying for my rental, I've gotta call and harrass them today and make sure they've renewed the rental so I don't get a bill for $1000 for that.

They aren't returning my messages. have to call 'em earlier, I suppose. Or catch them at the right time in the afternoon, once the East coasters go home.
