What's new? All the eye news is as best as could be hoped for, should be a simpler matter than either of the last two operations, although there is some risk of messing up my downward vision. I can live with a compromise if I can get back on the bikes with low clip-ons. My priorities are obviously idiotic, but hey, that's me. Operation is scheduled for July 5.
Right now I'm relaxing alone at my folk's cabin outside of Fort Collins CO. They're in Florida for a niece's graduation. It's 4 miles up a 4WD road, (do-able 2wd when dry) road I can see Ft. Collins off the front porch & the snow covered peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park off the back porch. Norvin is here for the summer, he's in heaven. The folks have nothing else to do up here but shower him with attention. Back home I'm working mostly 12 hour days & it's hot as hell, so despite missing him awfully I thought it would be better for him for the next few months. It'll get me up here more often anyhow. Dad takes him jogging every morning, so I've been taking long mountain bike rides with him. He will split if he's off the leash, but I've worked out a good system with a retractable leash attached to my belt. He stays clear & jogs along side with a huge smile. Yesterday I really brought him back exhausted so I thought I'd try to let him off his leash for a bit. Exhausted he wasn't. He took off through the fire road gate looking back in amusement as I called him and threw treats in his direction. I don't have a key for the gate so I couldn't follow in a vehicle and I was way too beat from our bike ride to think about heading down then back up the long steep grade. He didn't stop for about 3 miles until he came across some people and other dogs. They called (we got him a tag with the local CO phone # & address) and were kind enough to drive him back up to the gate. Dad put up a long overhead cable run for him, maybe eventually he'll learn to stick around on his own? I'm sorry I can't write more, I simply must resume my recreating.
