O shit fuck ass. I don't feel like typing out my frustration twice so here's a cut & paste from formuscle.com thread concerning my missing 3rd & 4th gears:
Ok, here's an update. I pulled the valve body and went through the shift kit install instructions again fully intending to pull the od servo as well. I was very happy to find two pieces of the 2-3 shift valve assembly completely stuck in their bores. I pulled it apart & went over the valve surfaces with some 800 & 1500 sandpaper. I put it back together & the valves moved smooth as silk. obviously no reason to pull the od servo, right? So I welded a drain plug on the pan and buttoned it back up dumping another 8 new quarts of mercon v. I washed the bird turds off the car & went for a spin full of expectation. Nope, still no shift to third. I sure wish I pulled that damned servo while I was in there. back under the car tomorrow to pull the valve body again to get to the servo. . Perhaps someday I'll truly LISTEN to advice when I ask for it. If it turns out not to be the servo either, I'll probably pull the trans & drop it off somewhere for a rebuild along with the wider band upgrades & whatnot.
Right now I'm going to use my 1st and 2nd gears to fetch a pint of ben & jerry's. Boulder City has the "Laughlin River Runs" again. hundreds of identical cruisers and choppers blipping their throttles wandering through town on their way to Laughlin. I can barely contain my urge to shout "show your tits" at these tough tough guys. I saw a bumper sticker today that said "Merle Haggard for President" I have no idea what Merle's views on anything could be but, shit why not.
Norvin is awesome, he's learning stuff at a pretty fast rate but did take a shit in my garage today and he chewed up my cell phone charger. He LOVES all other dogs and seems to have a positive knack for getting any dog no matter of age or size to play. Hey check THIS out: Swiss Mountain Dog. He looks to be a pretty exact match (although he has more white on his legs than pics I've seen). Who knows? I've been talking to him like the swedish chef from the muppets when nobody is looking.
