Glamis was a blast, so much so that I'm blowing off Thanksgiving with my Sister & going back there in a week. 3 days before we left, cousin decided to pull a buggy out of his back yard that had been sitting for who knows how long before he bought it for 200 bucks. We went like gangbusters getting it into shape. Single port motor of unknown size from another car that started a couple years ago but smoked badly, carb, ignition, remote oil cooler, roll bar from another junker buggy, free fiberglass seats from the dump needed mounts & supports welded, windshield needed glass, ten-ish cans of spraypaint, some swithches, lights & wiring, suspension mods to clear the huge swap meet paddle tires, whew. We got to Glamis late Wednesday night, crashed & spent the day Thursday finishing it up out there. Three relatives from Detroit and one friend flew into Vegas Thursday and came out with my Dad arriving at the dunes Late Thursday night. They brought with them a case of "Two Buck Chuck", so what better name for the project buggy?
Two Buck surprised everybody and has a heart of gold. Flat grey body with gloss black rollbar, floorpan, motor, suspension stuff, and dark blue tires and seats. My Uncle Bob worked as a testing driver for Ford for years so he got the honors mostly. I brought one of those novelty german army helmets thinking it would go well with the car & he wore it the whole weekend and made for a hilarious sight. I hadn't even considered that he's a bit rotund & bears an uncanny resemblance to Sgt. Schultz.
My cousin even managed to (barely) get it up Oldmobile Hill by "tacking" back & forth like a sailboat sailing into the wind. The trail of smoke and dust lingered in a zig-zag pattern for a bit. My buggy did even better than expected, I beat the piss out of it & broke nothing. My cousin got beat in his main ride (or as he calls it his wife's ride - it's pink, as purchased) by the only other pink ride out there, a sandrail with two girls on board. There really isn't a way to convey the volume of fun we all had. A perfect trip aside from leaving my camera's memory card in the fucking computer again. I'll be getting some pics emailed & I'll share a couple at that time. I didn't really see many crazy rides this trip, it's getting more and more big money & flashy paint, whatever. The day I was leaving I did check out a neighbor's two identical single seat rails powered by 1983 GSX 1100's. Also a quad running a built RD400 motor with expansion chambers running around OUTSIDE of your legs, which I thought ballsy. I saw like 3 other old fiberglass buggies but hundreds of $$$$long-travel cars$$$$ with stupid paint & chevy motors. boooring. A couple rotatries running in the distance, some nissan stuff, etc... Thanksgiving weekend is the biggest though & I will NOT forget my memory card, I promise!

i want to get a chrome plated german helmet to ride with my motorcycle. my wife thinks i would look dorky with that helmet on a dual sport bike.

you suck at punishment, by the way. i loved that video, obviously. fave scene: when rob pulled apart the prison bars like they were made of silly putty, and then: "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIIIIKE!"
