I don't really have much to report, nothing new on the bike scene really. I'm sad over what's happened to my favorite local auto parts store. It had been owned by the same family for as long as I've lived here & it was hands down the best all-around auto parts I've dealt with. They could get anything they didn't stock, usually the same day, occasionally two days. They sell House of Kolor paints & are (well were) very knowledgable on the intricacies of using the stuff. They were the best at helping find something that would work when you weren't looking for a specific late model part, but a solution for something not-so-standard. Best of all I just liked the people, all of them. It was sold last year, but a lot of the folks remained at first. One at a time and they've all left and everyone new is either a touch dense (which is absolutely fine), too lazy to go look for stuff I know is in there (even if I can tell them more or less WHERE it is on the shelves in back) or an asshole who's apparently having a bad day every day. There's one person there who's actually pretty helpful & willing to look for something that might work. But when asshole (the boss) is around she's not let near the parts counter because he and the men are obviously infallible authorities on fanbelts or whatever. Because they know that if they don't have your #268341-754 radiator hose, then there's nothing else that will work for you. Because if it would work it would be number #268341-754, duh. mad fucktards.

Similar situation with the city dump. I used to use it as an example of how well privitization of municipal functions can work. They would pay you for recyclables, pick up most anything out of the ordinary if you called them with your address, and take ANY environmentally hazardous stuff, they just requested it be clearly marked and in a decent container, ie. with a lid on it. The new fuckers make it as difficult as possible to recycle, charge you to take appliances (by take I don't mean pick up, I mean for me to drop off) don't pay anything for steel, aluminum or copper. Will not take ANY hazardous material aside from car batteries, motor oil, and paint. So now everything else will end up in the landfill, desert, or lake via drains. Fucking infuriating. I guarantee the desert will soon be full of appliances, too. When asked where to take old gasoline and used muriatic acid they say "I don't know, maybe talk to a repair shop" asswipes. I wonder how they'd like some muriatic coffee flavor.
