I got some good news from the machine shop that's modifying the H2 cylinders, pistons & heads. The bores are standard size with nearly no wear. In other words, the 3,900 miles on the odometer are accurate. At purchase I assumed otherwise based on condition of the bike. But looking things over closer, there doesn't appear to be a lot of wear, just a lot of weathering. The rings never seated properly though, lots of blowby evidence. So he's going to re-hone them & I need to find a new set of std. bore rings. All the oversize ones are easy to find, but I'm not getting any leads for std. bore size.
Paint thoughts: The gals sure do seem to like the disco-riffic purple. I actually like it as much as everyone else, but I know a fella with a purple harley & I always joke "hey, where's that tough lavender bike of yours?" He'd have himself a ball if I pulled up on a purple bike. I guess I have an image to uphold.
I pretty much decided on going with the red color, then I happened across a company that makes decals in the 75 shape using the 74 green color. Go figure.
