This weekend's news from dumont: Dad breaks sternum. Poor bastard, his broken finger isn't even healed up yet. His first time on a two-stroke (this one is a quad) since the 80's & he was raving about how fun it is to keep them in their powerband. Tearing across some flat terrain, he came across a "witches eye" (wind eddy makes a big hole in...

Since returning from the dunes sunday night I've not had a chance to unpack the motorhome or trailer, I've just been working too late and had some truck issues to deal with as well. I realized while driving through Laughlin today that this will be the weekend of the "Laughlin River Run." This means that starting tomorrow my own little town 80 miles upstream will...

Had fun at the dunes, broke some things and fixed some things. I need to take my welder along in the future. back to 12+ hour days frown smile . DMV called, they want me to bring my 59 "bug" in for an in-person VIN inspection. -I took the buggy to the local constable after the DMV said they'd not continue the title as a volkswagen bug....

My hands are fucking killing me. every damn finger has some sort of wound and they are so dry they are cracking as well. It goes along with my work, and it happens particularly bad every spring when I'm the busiest. Sometimes I end up wrapping finger tips in duct tape to deal. The dryness comes from lake algea. When it's dry it sucks the...

If I haven't dropped you a note recently, don't be too dissapointed, I'm just busy as shit working like 65 hour weeks. I'm not doing anything work related this weekend, except for stocking the truck with nuts & bolts, drill bits & saw blades etc... -My local hardware store is closed before I leave & closed when I get back, the lazy bastards.
I went...

Why am I updating while I have no time? because I made an excuse to go for a ride instead of working every minute today on the buggy. I gotta go get a jet guage/reamer set up for its carbs. Plus I'm hoping to try to rid myself of the chem-dip fumes that have soaked into my skin by heavy applications of throttle on the...

On some cars those big cheese slicers actually do something. Don't worry about getting schooled on your Thurxton, you ride that bike for the fun of it. If you'd wanted to be competitive with modern machinery you'd have ridden the ZRX, right?

The candy green will look much more pretty with a white base coat.

As for flakes, I know some people pore the flake over the wet base like pouring gravy on turkey. That would be a waist (I've seen some guy's use three jars of flake when they could have used one jar mixed with clear (stupid asses)). What I normally do for the flake being the main color is estimate the amount of flake(and use the smallest flake you can find for this) you'll use divide it into two coats with clear (and very-very little reducer) and spray away. And now for the real work....to berry the flake and give it a nice smooth finish, I've gone upto 9 to 14 coats of clear (for a bicycle frame) to completely bury the flake and that is with wet sanding in-between every two coats of clear. For a fuel tank, I'll estimate it at 3 to 5 coats (maybe more?) of clear.

oh I am so goddamn busy. worka worka worka worka. trying to get the buggy set to go to dumont (sand dunes) with my cousin over easter weekend. I've tagged along with him before, but never had a machine of my own to beat on so I'm excited. My very own ghetto-riffic rust-tastic dune buggy. smile

Did I mention that I'm going to be an uncle?...

I maimed my father this morning frown . I enlisted his help to move some heavy 10' toolboxes from a trailer to a truck. Neither of us were really paying attention to each other & we dropped one on his finger. At work we constantly move around long heavy stuff & when we say "let me get this end first" it means keep your hands clear...

When I first saw the mrblisters name I thought it had something to do with masturbation..(sorry, sometimes my brain works that way)..then I worked up the nerve to look at your pic folder..the rest is history.

Thanks for the compliment on my bike, I could remember racing these bikes up and down the neighborhood when I was a paper boy at nine. Some pleasant memories there.

I really like the new seat you put on the triumph! That moto keeps getting better looking all the time.

yesterday was great, I took the buggy out in the desert for a few hours. I love it, it seems very solid & runs great. There is one little issue that I'll have to do something about. Running fast on a rough surface then idling it loads up on fuel & runs crappy. The float bowl vents are fed up into the venturis (this arrangement...

hey. i'm so sorry to hear about your friend. i hope you and everyone gets to the bottom of what happened. the whole not knowing part must be really rough; clearly for her mom, especially. sounds like she was totally fun to be with. thanks for telling me about it, and let me know if you hear anything, if you feel like talking. it's good to explain confusing/effed-up things to other people sometimes, eh?

no news really. i'm going tomorrow night to sit with "the body." people are taking different shifts for 3 days round the clock, so i'm showing up latenight tomorrow in boston (i feel like crap - i'm totally bringing a pillow. as in for my head. everyone else can sit and chant or whatever the fuck they need to do). then a memorial friday.

i'm realizing how alone i feel, like all parental figures are being snuffed out of my little sphere. feel sort of adrift. minus the sort of. i'll be "fine." i just wish i was physically strong and not still so dependent on others for nearly everything, despite how "healthy" i may appear or whatever. (you have no idea how much i covet the idea of just working a real job - being that independant.) i know we're not our bodies but sometimes it's hard to know it, if you follow.

it just sucks, and sucking is what happens sometimes.
