Members of Sonic Youth, the Minutemen, Mudhoney and Concrete Blonde are among the artists that have joined forces to participate in "You've Got Your Orders Vol. 1," a 22-track, limited edition CD due this month from Chrome Peeler Records.

"The idea was a simple one," says Chrome Peeler's founder Jason Ziemniak. "Contact the musicians in my record collection and ask them if they'd write a song if I gave them a song title." As a result, Mike Watt, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Thalia Ferriera team up for "Like a Ghost on Fire," Mudhoney's Mark Arm delivers "Coke Limo" and Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano contributes "Memory of A Liar."

Additional contributions from Clutch's Neil Fallon, the Figgs' Mike Gent, Isis' Aaron Turner and Rocket From The Crypt-offshoot Beehive and the Barracudas round out the compilation. A second installment in the series, appropriately titled "You've Got Your Orders Vol. 2," is in the planning
stages.

Here's the track list for "You've Got Your Orders Vol. 1":

"Showtime At The Apollo 9," House of Low Culture
"Instant Winner," Neil Fallon
"X-Ray My Dreams," Nels Cline
"Smile for the Soul-Stealing Camera," Erik Larson
"Late Night Moan," Bluebird
"Sign Language Tourettes," Harry Seitz
"Hot Licks for Shredders," Chronicles of Lemur Mutation
"Coke Limo," Mark Arm
"Broken Mirror Music," Betty's Trash
"Not Enough Crayons for Everyone," Twink
"The Sons of Lee Marvin," Jebediah Parish
"Gameshow Contestant Flip-Out," Godstomper
"Shaking Hands and Kissing Babies Covered in Bacteria," Weasel Walter "You Can Get Away With Any Crime if You Just Run Fast Enough," Chris Crude "Vaudeville Distorted," Bliss Blood "Dance of the Drunken Siberian," Hella "Point a Finger," Mike Gent "K.A.P.L.," Badgadget "Like a Ghost on Fire," Mike Watt, Thurston Moore and Thalia Ferriera "Smut Merchant of Venice," Beehive & the Barracudas "Memory of a Liar," Johnette Napolitano "Tickle Party #2," IDX274

On the anniversary of John Lennon's death, Roger Greenawalt--a well-known producer, session musician, recent uke-convert and my new friend--is organizing a very special musical event to take place in Brooklyn at the Streb Action Theater. Roger has invited a host of music personalities such as Kate Pierson (B-52s), Rick Ocasek (The Cars), Elvis Costello (Elvis Costello), and others including Toby Took and Fatty Bolger (The Bag End Boys), to join in him in performing all 211 of the Beatles' songs. The only catch: all the songs will be performed with ukulele accompaniment only.

The event is to be a fundraiser, with all proceeds being sent to Sir Paul McCartney for one or another of his charities or causes, I can't remember which. It will begin at 9am on Sun., Dec. 7th and go as long as it takes to complete the catalogue.
