I have a dependance on coffee too, though not as extreme. Without it, I become too easily distracted, daydream, can't convince myself of the importance of the work infront of me. Some days it tastes nasty, leaves a sick feeling in my throat (especially when my housmate makes it and it's too strong -- like you she drowns it in sugar) but I have to drink it anyway and wish I didn't.
I find the quality of my vision depends on how much attention I pay to it. Drawing and painting improve its clarity immensely.

I lost it sometime around noon today at work when the internet went down.
