It's the funniest thing: I haven't been in a band since 2000, and yet I've never been more musically active in my life than I have been right now.
In addition to my weekly karaoke madness (Tuesdays and Fridays at Chopsticks II, East Burnside for my Portland heads), I've been asked to take part in a benefit show on the 27th of this month performing all the songs from Purple Rain. I'll be Morris Day for all intents and purposes, if everything works out. (It's at Dante's, Portland heads.) On top of all of that, I might be playing bass for my friend Abbey's vanity project Soylent Gringo at Musicfest NW.
all of this doesn't make me feel any less angry about not having a band. But it's a start.
