Got to see The Watchmen on Sunday afternoon. It's an absolutely superb film and I loved every minute of it. Yes there's a lot left out from the book (graphic novel ?), esp the comic within a comic Tales of The Black Freighter, which apparently has a dvd to itself and most of the New York scenes not involving our heroes. I would agree , though, that this film could only have been made today, when special effects were capable of doing it justice.
On a more sombre note though I saw a tv program last night (can't remember the name) where three women, who are extrovert/outlandish/love lots of make-up etc are taught that 'natural beauty' and more conventional styles would be better for them. Jeeez...talk about hammering down the nail that stands out. I gave up when they started going to work on a geisha-goth type, who I thought looked stunning as she was.
I found it all very creepy, especially since the women involved were volunteers. Still this is tv, so who knows what the truth was, before the editorial suite went towork on it !!!!
