Merry Solstice today! As one that tends to the Bah Humbug side of the season I'm sure you'll all be proud that I'm observing some of the positive things. Walking the dog (okay - he walks me but I figure it's his hour of the day to explore) around the streets of this little town is proving to be quite eye-opening. There seem to be lights of one form or another on 50, 60, maybe even 70% of the houses. Some are subdued (which I prefer) and some are clearly expressions of great exuberance for the celebrations. It didn't really dawn on me until later that this *is* a small town and the economics are such that most residents are probably cash poor and for so many of them to spend the money to get decorations and the time putting them up and the money to keep them burning is , at least for me, inspiring.
