you should definitely check out bohemian hall and beer garden. I don't know if it's "your thing" but look it up, it's an awesome place. It's in Queens, bit of a drive for the city, but it's cool.

yeah, I try to go up to long island every year for like 3 years now for "punk island" a friend of mine helps run it. but it always winds up landing on a stupid day like sun. too bad the people I know up there live in queens,the bronx, and long island...:/ no one in Manhattan haha but you should check out that festival next year
