RANTRANTRANT
Just when I believe that the world has hit bottom and there cannot be any more lower standards for television, along comes a show in the UK for models with disabilities. I have nothing again women with disabilities, well except Heather Mills and that's for the obvious reasons, but I digest. If US TV is to follow its usual trend of copying everything aired in the UK, then North American viewers will soon be watching amputees, blind models, and models who are paralyzed on the cat walk. Good for them to make something of their lives etc.. but seriously what next? Dead Models? Ten recently deceased women are voted upon until the last one standing, or rather, rotting, wins a 5000 dollar/pound/euro funeral?? I admit that I have low standards, I love Amazon Women on the Moon which most people hate but all the reality TV shown these days is depressing me.
What ever happened to making a good fictional TV show, and please do not mention the new Knight Rider, which, if the pilot is anything to based upon, will be a rolling bag of shite. There are good, and great shows on TV, House, BSG, etc. are proof of that but why does the lowest common denominator seem to be trashy reality? A few years ago it was chat shows that shocked. Jerry Springer the worst of them, but people watch it. I admit to watching it simply so I could feel superior for a few moments but even I cringed when some guy or girl walks on the stage and hasn't clued in that her boyfriend/girlfriend is really a man/woman and sleeping with their mother/father. Come on, I mean, you get invited on the Jerry Springer show, you should realize that your life is about to take a serious dive.
Sod it, I am giving up watching live TV and gonna slip in a DVD of Space 1999 for a while....
